Breed weight is the number every gear chart is built on, and it is the weakest predictor of fit on this site.
The reason is spread. A German Shepherd's published range runs from about 50 to 90 pounds. That is not a margin of error — a 50-pound and a 90-pound dog of the same breed are different animals to fit, and both are entirely normal Shepherds.

Read those ranges rather than their midpoints. The Mastiff row spans 110 pounds, which is more than most dogs weigh in total.
Where the spread comes from
Sex. Males typically run heavier than females, and in some breeds the difference is most of the published range. The chart above collapses both into one row, as almost all breed charts do.
Line. Working and show lines of the same breed can differ substantially — working Labradors and Springer Spaniels tend to be leaner and rangier than show-bred dogs of identical pedigree quality.
Condition. This is the uncomfortable one. Veterinary surveys consistently find a large share of pet dogs are overweight, which means the observed average for many breeds sits above the healthy range. A chart built on what dogs weigh is not the same as a chart built on what they should weigh.
Mixes. Any chart is silent on them, and they are a large share of dogs.
What to use instead
Every item of gear has a measurement that predicts fit better than weight:

Where breed genuinely predicts something
Two things, and they are worth separating from sizing.
Body shape. Breed reliably predicts proportion even when it does not predict weight. A Dachshund is long regardless of scale; a French Bulldog is barrel-chested at any weight; a Whippet's neck is wider than its head. Adult size expectation. For a puppy, breed is the only guide you have to what is coming, which is why crate buying uses the adult figure and a divider.
